FAQs

How is hypnosis used for Peaceful Birthing?

While you CAN use hypnosis during your actual labor and birth, the primary benefits of using hypnosis for Peaceful Birthing come from the hypnosis that you use during pregnancy to prepare for the birth in advance.

Some people do listen to hypnosis tracks while in labor, but it is not required. For both of my births, I listened to calming music instead. However, leading up to my births I prepared by listening to hypnosis and/or affirmation tracks daily. I also had a multitude of women who provided me with awesome tips and tricks to help me before and during labor/birth. During our sessions I will share this helpful information with you as well!

What are the benefits of working with you vs. simply finding hypnosis tracks on YouTube?

During our five sessions together, I will tailor the hypnosis language to you and your situation specifically. I do have a general five session framework that I typically use, but within those sessions I personalize the suggestions based on your birthing goals and any other unique situation you may have (ie; specific fears related to birth can be addressed, working through prior traumatic birthing experiences, etc.).

Our sessions include more than just guided hypnosis:

  • We will discuss your specific goals/concerns

  • I will give homework assignments to keep you moving and motivated in between sessions

  • I will teach you self-hypnosis skills

  • I will share tips and tricks that helped me have the births of my dreams

  • I will be available to you via text/email throughout your pregnancy to answer any questions to help you along the way

At what stage of my pregnancy should I begin working with you?

There are no hard and fast rules for when to begin hypnosis practices during pregnancy. I would recommend starting somewhere between 20 and 30 weeks. That being said, it’s never too early or too late to start.

If timing is flexible for you, I would recommend touching base with me around 20 weeks for a phone consultation. If you decide to move forward I will provide you with a pregnancy hypnosis track to listen to throughout your pregnancy.

I would recommend starting your 5 sessions around 28 weeks (give or take a couple of weeks). With 5 weekly sessions, this would bring you to your 33rd week of pregnancy. But don’t’ worry, there will be plenty of “homework” to keep you going between weeks 33 and whenever baby arrives! I will also be available via text or e-mail to answer any hypnosis questions you may have throughout your pregnancy.

What is your five-session framework?

In session one we will discuss your labor/birth goals and any birthing related fears that you may have. The hypnosis session will be focused on fostering your internal resource state of relaxation and enhancing your confidence around birthing.

During session two we discuss your birthing support system and the involvement of others in your pregnancy and birthing journey. The hypnosis session will include a visualization of your ideal birthing scenario and will reiterate suggestions to continue enhancing your relaxation skills and birthing confidence.

In session three I will provide some tips and tricks that helped me during my own labor and birthing experiences. The hypnosis session will focus on the dynamics of love and fear and will also include positive postpartum visualizations.

Session four will include additional tips and tricks for a positive birthing experience. The hypnosis session will focus on the jaw/pelvis connection, as well as the importance of posture pre, during and post-labor.

During session five we will discuss birthing affirmations and how to think about and use them before and during labor. The hypnosis session will include inner child work, parts work and positive contraction affirmations.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns. I look forward to working with you during your pregnancy. You are strong, resilient and capable and you CAN do this!
